Blossom Pillows- Our Story
As a young girl, my mother has fond memories of working with her mother in raising silk worms at her grandparent’s silk farm and factory. She was mesmerized by the beautiful and natural, golden-colored silk threads that would glisten and shine under the sun’s light as it was being spun into thread and then bundled and packaged for sale and exportation to foreign countries.
In addition to her participation with her grandparent’s business, she was also interested in tending to her mother’s beautiful vegetable and flower gardens, where she would spend countless hours working with the soil, nurturing the plants and then watching them grow and to unfold their precious and delicious bounty. Her interests also included working on sewing projects with her mother that involved learning the art of clothing design and pattern making in which she would produce garments for herself and for her four sisters to wear. Her creative talents led her to begin to design beautiful decorative items for her family’s home where she would often times draw inspiration from her passion and respect for nature.
As an adult, my mother continued to hone her skills and to build beautiful and bountiful gardens where she raised various types of vegetables, fruits and unique flowers. Then in 1976, while she was working on a project in her new home and looking to design some unique and decorative items that would capture both the beauty of nature and her love of flowers, the idea to create a blossom-inspired pillow was cultivated and born!
Family and friends took notice of her designs and began to request that she produce these items for their homes as well. She therefore began a line of custom, home decorative accessories that she sold at a handful of local businesses. Her growing family’s needs and schedule shifted and as a result, she temporarily suspended her decorative pillow business.
Then in 2007 we decided to reintroduce her designs to the marketplace. Today, as a mother/daughter team, we use our complimentary talents to develop and to create our unique and handmade items via our web-based business. From our “original” design to some of our latest creations, we have developed a line of timeless decorative home accessories that reflect both our love and our respect for nature by capturing those beautiful elements in the designs and the products that we produce.
